PGT

Preimplantation Genetic Screening, PGS

PGS is a genetic test designed to examine embryos for chromosomal abnormalities. Embryos are biopsied at the blastocyst stage and all the chromosomes are examined. Embryos with too many or too few chromosomes, a condition called aneuploidy, often result in unsuccessful IVF or early pregnancy loss. By only placing embryos with the correct number of chromosomes (euploid embryos) in the uterus, PGS aims to improve implantation and pregnancy rates in people having IVF.

Who might be recommended to have PGS?

  • Women aged over 34
  • Several miscarriages
  • Repeated IVF failure
  • Serious causes of male infertility
  • Carrier of inherited genetic diseases ad chromosomal translocations

  3. Return and meet with Doctors, 3 days after egg retrieval, to confirm the exact number of embryos sent for examination.
  4. Cells will be removed from Day5 or Day6 embryos. Report will be ready in 2 weeks.
  5. Doctors will choose the most appropriate embryo(s) for implantation according to the PGS result.
